Garden Room grows up

C Goodman Carpentry did an amazing job bringing this dream to life. It isn’t easy to attach new to old, but Chris makes it look easy. One of our goals was to have a fully accessible first floor for someone using a walker. The new room was to have a full bathroom with curbless shower and a sliding door to make it a private bedroom when guests come to stay. The porch would also provide fully accessible entertaining, instead of the many, many grade changes surrounding our previous exterior-which made it difficult to serve food anywhere near the house. This all required Chris to level everything to 4 different exits from the house. Impressive! Kudos to the laser level!

You can see the old slider to my office-which provided a perfect safe viewing window for my 7 y/o to see all the work up close.

I waited on baited breath for that sheeting and plastic to come down!

Next up flooring… This is where Chris’s super laser skills came into play. We laid all new floor from the office into the garden room. And absolutely no hump or bump across that transition-perfectly level! See if you can check out the coping skills against the stone wall. Speaking of that stone wall! Look for a separate post about that. Far too exciting to squeeze in here.

That morning light is so lovely! And here it is all uncovered…
